PRESSE RELEASE Paris, January 8, 2003 The FRAT: a new form of revisionism?
After several months of discrete negotiations, the "Forum pour le Rapprochement entre Armeniens et Turcs" (FRAT) was publicly announced in Paris, by a letter dated January 3, 2003.
While backing the principle of a dialogue between the Armenians and the Turks for the resolution of the Armenian Cause, which could be reached particularly by the recognition of the Genocide of 1915 by the Turkish society itself, the ADL-Ramgavar organization expresses serious doubts and reticence about the texts and documents diffused up today by the FRAT.
Without pointing out all the reasons of the failure of the late Turkish-Armenian Reconciliation Commission (TARC), we draw particularly the attention of the politicians, as well as of all the Armenian communities disseminated in the world, on the fact that this association, declared to the Prefecture de Paris, contradict in its "Preliminary declaration" the January 29, 2001 French law which "publicly recognized the Armenian Genocide of 1915".
Therefore, the ADL-Ramgavar-France organization calls the Government and the Parliament, as well as the all organizations, associations and citizens attached to the Law, to be vigilant in order to forewarn the FRAT against any attempt to prolong or to legitimate the negativist and revisionist policy of Turkey and its friends.
